2006 City Election

Election Day Polling Places

Tuesday, November 7, 2006 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at designated Polling Places.

The Hays County Elections Administrator will post Hays County and City of San Marcos election returns on the Hays County Elections web site as ballots are counted Tuesday night.  This will be the fastest way to learn how each contest is faring.

Returns from selected contested races will be televised on the City of San Marcos television channels: Time Warner Channel 10 and Grande Communications Channel 16 in San Marcos starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

On the Election Ballot

The City Council offically called for the Nov. 7, 2006 City of San Marcos General and Special Election on August 15, 2006 at its regular meeting.

  • Mayor - 2 year term
  • Council Member, Place 5 - three year term
  • Council Member, Place 6 - three year term
  • Special Election for Council Member, Place 1- one year term
  • Amendments to the City Charter will also be on the City Ballot

Election Calendar

  • July 31 to August 29, 2006 at 5 p.m.: Period to File for Office
  • August 15, 2006: Official call for election by City Council
  • August 30, 2006: 9 a.m. City Hall. Drawing for Place on the ballot for Mayor, and City Council Place 5 and Place 6
  • August 16 to Sept. 1, 2006 at 5 p.m.: Period to File for Place 1, City Council
  • September 2: 9 a.m. City Hall. Drawing for place on ballot, Place 1,
  • October 10, 2006: Last day to register to vote in Nov. 7 election
  • October 23, 2006: First day of Early Voting
  • November 3, 2006: Last day of Early Voting
  • November 7, 2006: Election Day
  • November 15, 2006: Canvass of Election Returns and Swearing in of Elected Officials.
  • December 5, 2006: Run-off Election Day if necessary

 

Early Voting:

Monday, October 23 through Friday, November 3, 2006. See Early Voting schedule.
