A Message from the Purchasing Manager

                     

Purchasing ManagerThank you for visiting the home page of the City Purchasing Division. This site was designed to give you the information that you need to make doing business with the City as simple and straightforward as possible. Our office is located in the 1st floor of the Municipal Building. Business hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Our goal is to serve the public, the city organization, and our suppliers efficiently, professionally, and ethically.

The Purchasing Division is responsible for providing assistance to City departments in securing goods and services in the most economical, efficient, and timely manner possible. We handle purchases in a manner ensuring competition between potential vendors and contractors in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations, sound internal controls and professional purchasing.

The Purchasing Division advertises all Invitation For Bids and Request For Proposals in the San Marcos Daily Record. The advertisement will be at least two weeks in advance of the bid opening date. A formal bid or proposal is a written solicitation exceeding $50,000 for goods or services. All Requests for Quotations are posted on the Purchasing Division website.

You will need to register at www.texasbidsystem.com, to become a recognized supplier with the City of San Marcos. It is important to note that once you become a recognized supplier, you are not guaranteed City business. It is your responsibility to seek bid/proposal opportunities with the City.

No, there is no fee for a bid package or proposal.

All formal bids and proposals must be submitted by the specified due date and time, to the Office of the Purchasing Manager, Municipal Building, 630 East Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666. The due date and time is specified in each package.
